I have read that it's in the front. In the threads regarding smoother shifting everyone says if you overfill more than about a quart it will leak out the input and out of the bellhousing. It's my understanding there is not a seal, in the conventional sense at least, at the input of the trans.I believe that has to do with the seal design, there is an oil slinger thats supposed to clear most of the oil off the input shaft, then the seal gets the rest. But its not meant as a 'pressure' seal so that is why it can leak. Or something to that effect.
