John Deere 226 D Manual
I,m probably gonna pick this us in the next few days. I found it on Craigslist here in SW Pa its a 90-91 Yanmar YM 226D 4wd shift on the fly with 480 hrs on it, pto driven Sitrex 60 inch rear mower that works fine and Agro-Tech front bucket loader.
I spent about 2 hours going over it, everything works fine lights the fluid levels all good including right filters and checking 4wd along with posi rearend. Engine fired right up in 30 degree weather, sounded normal and had recent oil change and filter. Turf tires are about 50-60% and its showing the usual dents, scratches and paint fade. I settled on a cash price of 5700 so did i do okay on this? Are there any known issues with these tractors? Lets hear from a few that own one of these.

Once a year we pick one person from all the consumers we see getting burned in this market and rescue them. Fortunately for you, you're it this year. Give us your address and we'll have a truck stop by next week for the tractor, loader, and mower.the driver will have cash, so no Nigerian scam here.and we'll shoulder the burden for you.

Re: hearing from a few that own these, if you find a half dozen people who own a 226, you've found a lot. Fine tractor, just not a lot of them. You will need us, or someone like us, for parts, as Yanmar has spotty parts coverage at best anymore for their tractors.we have a 186 page catalog of parts you can download at our website.
We have Sitrex parts too. William sent me questions on the 226D and I'm learning as well, so I'm posting them here: gotta a few questions for you on these tractors. The shift lever down on the right side of transmission how many different positions is it, is only a hi-lo range ( 2 speed ) or are there more than that? Mine is 9 forward speeds and 3 Reverse. The shift lever is 1, N, 2, 3 for high/medium/low range. The Shift lever by the steering wheel is R, N, 1, 2, 3 to use shift on the go within the ranges.
I found that you need to have the column shifter in neutral to change the range on the lower shifter. I was gonna add another light up front but from seeing the size of alternator i don't know. LED maybe The P.O. Has a reverse work light and 2 hazard lights on the rear fenders. They all work but I haven't thought to add lights to it yet. 3.best place to get service repair manual at a good price with most information?
LMTC is a business for all Yanmar brochures and parts. He will probably chime in to help. This is his website: 4. Shift lever by steering wheel has some play in it and have found sometimes 2nd gear don't work.
I haven't had any problems with this shifter yet, but no play in it that I can tell. Where a lot of the older John Deere compacts just re-badged Yanmar and can i get parts there? I believe Yanmar is its own company. They sold motors to John Deere. Had any problems with yours i could see down the road with mine?
I haven't had any issues yet 'knock on wood.' But I've only owned it for a couple months. Thanks william henry I'm pulling for ya, we're all in this together. (Red Green) Glenn. That's good news!

The first time I used the FEL and back blade to clear the snow off the driveway, it took me 3 hours. I enjoyed every minute of it. By the end of the snow season I did it in an hour, and felt I got cheated on seat time. I find myself a little lazier also. Had my dad's walk behind snow blower in the back of the truck. I just put the bucket on the tailgate, loaded the blower, and transported to the shed. I also carried the snowmobiles on the 3 point carry-all to their 'summer home' on pallets behind the garage.
My dad just shakes his head. The more you use it, the more ways you find to use it.
