About Camp Joy is an inclusive camp for ages 5 and up of all abilities. The camp is a program of the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department, provided through the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) Unit. Camp Joy is located at Hagan Stone Park and includes six cabins, activity building, art cabin, and picnic facilities. Campers are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Space is limited. Session 1 and 2 are designed for campers with disabilities, including but not limited to developmental disabilities and visual and hearing impairments. Accessible Adventures is specifically designed for persons with physical disabilities. Our Team The Camp Joy staff includes a registered nurse, counselors and instructors - often special education school teachers or college-aged students - as well as volunteers who provide the direct care and assure that all the camper’s needs are met. Volunteer Information Camp Joy relies on volunteers all summer! We are always looking for individuals who want to give back to the community. Our volunteers should be at least 14 years of age and have reliable transportation.

Volunteers are required to complete the volunteer enrollment form and supplemental Camp Joy volunteer registration form. We request that volunteers can commit to at least one full week of camp which can be selected on the registration form. Volunteer duties vary based on the needs for that day so flexibility is a must!
