AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH DAY:. Install the clean and dry test strip tray. Do not touch the gray reference pad.
Make sure the retaining bar of the test strip tray is closed (in the down position), and then slide the tray into the slot located below the function keys. Power-on the analyzer by pushing the on/off switch located at the back of the analyzer to the ON position. The analyzer will perform a self-check ensuring that the test strip tray has been installed correctly. When the self-check is complete, the tray moves to the start position and the retaining bar opens. If the self-check is successful, a message 'SELF CHECK OK' will automatically print along with the time and date.
Calibration must be performed prior to reading patient samples every day. The operator will be prevented from performing a measurement on patient samples until calibration is performed. After 7 days of inactivity the message 'REPEAT CALIBRATION' appears after a successful self check. Use a Chemstrip Calibration Strip being careful not to touch the elevated gray areas. Place the calibration strip, pads facing upward, onto the test strip tray and insert the front edge of the strip under the plastic clip. Press the START button.
You will hear a beep and then the tray advances slightly, the retaining bar closes, and the calibration strip is read. When calibration is complete the tray moves to the start position and the retaining bar opens. Remove the calibration strip and save. If the calibration is valid, results are stored in memory and a report with the reflectance values, time and date automatically prints.
If the calibration results are outside the programmed limits, one of the following messages will be displayed: 'REFERENCE PAD ERROR!' , 'CALIBRATION INVALID!' , or 'CALIBRATION ERROR!' .
If a calibration error occurs, repeat the calibration procedure as above using a fresh calibration strip. If the calibration fails a second time, refer to Section 8 in the Urisys 1100 Manual. AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY:. Switch off the instrument. Pull the test strip tray out of the instrument. Rinse under running water. Remove any crystalline deposits, especially those contaminating the retaining bar mechanism, with a soft brush if necessary.
Wipe down the test strip tray with isopropyl alcohol. Dry with a soft lint-free cloth. CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the gray reference pad during the cleaning process. Made sure the reference pad is completely clean and dry before proceeding to read test strips. Also be sure the positioning hole on the side ofthe tray is absolutely dry. ERROR MESSAGES:.
Error messages are shown on the display, but are not printed out. If an error message occurs and there is no action taken with 5 minutes, the analyzer returns to standby mode. Lf the problem is not resolved and the START button is not pressed, the error message reappears on the display.
